GETS Reference: 28725
The purpose of this Request for Proposal (“RFP”) is to invite researchers, research companies and agencies to submit their proposals to ALAC for research that will address each of the four main purposes for which the research is being requested.
These are to:
- carry out a survey of all uniformed RNZAF personnel which establishes a baseline of data
- undertake qualitative research with various service levels of the Air Force
- describe and assess the drinking environments in existence at each of the air bases at Woodbourne, Ohakea, Auckland and Headquarters Wellington, ensuring in particular that any influencers of other than positive drinking behaviour, and individual and collective motivations for drinking and drinking excessively, are identified.
- assess the role of alcohol in the Air Force and where appropriate develop or identify strategies for enhancing a positive drinking culture in the RNZAF.
The intention of the research is to provide credible data to assist the RNZAF to formulate strategies to enhance Air Force safety by encouraging moderation in alcohol consumption and consequent reduction in the incidences of alcohol-related harm. This work will also guide any future research projects which may use this project’s findings as a baseline.
The maximum budget available is $90,000 excluding GST. We anticipate the project to begin early April 2010 and be completed by end of August 2010.
