ALAC has a two self-help booklets:

The User Guide : Time for Change (PDF 2.4Mb) is a guide for you if you think there may be issues with your drinking or drug use.  The Guide helps you decide whether or not you want to make changes, and is designed to help you better understand your own situation and develop your own plan.  This Guide is aimed at adults aged between 25-55 years.

Concerned? Time for Change (PDF 1.7Mb), is a resource aimed at those who have identified a need for help woth someone else's drinking.You can get copies of these from your doctor, Alcohol and Drug service, the Alcohol Helpline, or directly from ALAC.

For more information call The Alcohol Helpline on 0800 787 797.

ALAC's 'Had Enough' Campaign - How to make a change

We have created the Had Enough? action pack to help you move toward changing your drinking or drug taking.

Each pack contains:
  • A video / DVD;
  • A workbook; and
  • How you can get help
If you do want to make changes then we strongly suggest you call 0800 787 797 today for your Had Enough? action pack.

This is the only way by which you can get the packs. We do this because we want to ensure that only those who need them receive them, and that you receive the video too.

Alcohol & Drug Services

Also when the right time for you, you may find it useful to contact somebody at an alcohol and drug service.

There are alcohol and drug support services available in your region. Most of these services are free while a few charge.

If you call the Alcohol Helpline on 0800 787 797 they will give you the details of the alcohol and drug services in your area which are most suited to you, or you can look in your telephone book under Alcohol.

These services will help you and suggest specific actions for change.
They will also suggest other services and organisations that can help you.
