Support for Requirements of Sale and Supply
Environments and settings
ALAC's aim is to see that a wide range of settings are supported to provide responsible drinking environments.
ALAC's focus:
- A wider range of settings are supported.
- Agencies with responsibility for enforcing liquor legisation are supported.
- Large events are supported.
- Practical industry partnerships are supported.
- Sports settings are supported.
Local government work
ALAC's work includes:
- encouraging local authorities to plan for alcohol in their community
- providing advice to local government on the development of local alcohol policies, liquor policies, alcohol strategies and liquor control bylaws
- making submissions to local government on the above
- providing advice to community groups who want to engage with their local councils around the development of alcohol-related plans, policies and strategies
- providing briefings and information on legislative changes to Council officers, Elected Members etc
- supporting to local government around the development and monitoring of plans,policies and strategies through assisting with analysis, local research and evaluations
- providing support where appropriate at Liquor Licensing Authority (LLALiquor Licensing Authority) hearings
- supporting Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) through assisting with the Alcohol Reference Group. This group helps LGNZ develop submissions on alcohol-related Bills.
